Every Windbell Sold Supports Our Mission

If you're reading this, you already know about the incredible and unique beauty of Cosanti Originals windbells, which have been handcrafted by Arizona artisans at Cosanti and Arcosanti for more than 50 years. What you might not know is that every one of those bells was created for a reason: to support The Cosanti Foundation, Cosanti Originals' parent organization, a nonprofit whose mission is to inspire a reimagined urbanism that builds resilient and equitable communities that are sustainably integrated within the natural world.

Founded in 1965 by Paolo and Colly Soleri, The Cosanti Foundation works every day to offer an alternative to the mass-produced, impersonal, car-centric, sprawling cities that dominate the American landscape. Through our flagship projects—Cosanti in Paradise Valley and Arcosanti near Mayer—we explore the possibilities of a different kind of environmentally-aligned architecture and urban planning through the principles of arcology, a combination of the words, "architecture" and "ecology." The idea of arcology was born at Cosanti, and later demonstrated through the construction and ongoing evolution of Arcosanti. The elegant, organic simplicity of our many earth-cast and silt-cast buildings is a perfect mirror of the process by which our bronze and ceramic bells are cast and carved. In fact, you might even imagine the structures at Cosanti and Arcosanti as a kind of very large bell. Soleri himself often referred to Arcosanti as an instrument, with the people as its music.

Come be part of our song.

Both Cosanti and Arcosanti are open to the public seven days a week, nearly every day of the year. We invite you to visit, take a tour, and at Arcosanti, you can even stay the night. Of course, we also encourage you to buy a bell (or bowl, or rain chain, or earrings...our artists create so many wonderful things!) to take home. With every purchase you make, you are helping to fund the programs and activities that keep Cosanti and Arcosanti going strong. More importantly, you are helping us build a better, more beautiful world.

Cosanti Cares

Supporting Charitable Causes is Our Tradition

On the first Saturday in May, dedicated philanthropist, businesswoman, and LLS Woman of the Year Kimberly Guimarin hosted a lively Kentucky Derby Party in her backyard, right next door to Cosanti in Paradise Valley. Now in its fourth year, Kimberly's event raised over $20k to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a cause close to her heart. Cosanti Originals was proud to once again be a part of her successful fundraiser by donating a handcrafted bronze windbell to the silent auction.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is one of several nonprofit organizations throughout the Valley that Cosanti Originals has supported through donations of its iconic, artful windbells. This year alone, we've been proud to donate windbells to fundraisers supporting the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation; Arizona Center for Nature Conservation/Phoenix Zoo; Canine Companions for Independence; Phoenix Animal Care Coalition; Arizona Citizens for the Arts; and the High Desert Heritage Museum.

“It takes a lot of work to identify and approach the many restaurants, resorts, and retailers who generously donate gift certificates and products to the silent auction at our Kentucky Derby Party benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society," says Kimberly. "Every year, we start all over again to really try and keep the assortment of items to bid on fresh and unique. That said, there are those special items that people are excited to see in the fundraiser’s silent auction year after year...like your bells," she added.

Cosanti Originals has donated a stunning windbell to Kimberly's Kentucky Derby fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society since it began in 2018, and along with Kimberly, hope that the monies raised will support the research that finds a cure.
