In the Maori language spoken by New Zealanders, the word “takitoru” means “trio.” Takitoru is the name given to this large windbell with three diamond fins that help it catch the wind and create its deep, gong-like sound. The eight flat panel surfaces that make up the bell form feature the hand-designed motifs of an artisan in our foundry. Drawing inspiration from nature, free-form organic figures, or geometric shapes, the artisan’s one-of-a-kind designs complement the Takitoru windbell and the distinctive ribcage linkage from which it hangs.
